This is the family photography section of the blog. I am a firm believer in children needing to see reminders of the love that we share as a family. So few people actually have photos taken of the whole group together (one person is usually taking the photos!). So I want to make sure that as many families as possible get full group photos taken. What could be better than your child seeing an image up on the wall every day, showing the whole unit together, and reinforcing that love.
These photoshoots can be studio or natural outdoors, depending on your preference. Those with toddlers to 6 or 7 year olds sometimes prefer outdoors where the children can run around and have fun.
I was so happy to be asked to photograph Noah’s Christening day. Over the years I also photographed his older brother, and his older sister’s Christenings. So I feel like I know the family well.
Photography is all about recording changes, changes in you or your family, and sometimes just your children. Allowing you to look back over time and see those changes preserved and helping you to remember how things were. With this Christening I have recorded these changes in the whole family and also their friends.
This amazing family are all about the children, you can see the love they have for each other, and all the children who celebrated the day with them, both this Christening and at the previous ones.
The Christening day
Thankfully the rain held off for the day of the Christening, although it was rather cloudy. As usual, I arrived nice and early. Having been to this church twice before I knew where to go and what the inside etc is like. However on arriving I found that the usual place for parking was taped off so had to find another spot to park up. There was also the usual slightly pungent smell from the cows that live next door to the church!
Once the family arrived we went and did some group photos outside of the church.
The family were lucky enough to have the same Vicar who took the ceremony for their eldest for this one also. A lovely older Vicar who was happy for me to be there and taking photos for them. Noah did amazingly well during the service, not a single cry from him, even when the water was poured on his head (a first for me because most babies are not keen on this section of the service at all!).
The church is a lovely quant and not too dark one, making my job much easier than it can sometimes be.
After the service was over we went to the pub next door, where I continued to cover the party. Including all the details of the cake (this family always have awesome cakes!) and also the guests who were there.
Once finished I provided the family with the edited images on discs (we chose discs so that they matched the previous Christenings).

Hi all! Welcome to this blog post about Family photography Bognor Regis.
I’m on a bit of a mission at the moment, this mission is to get whole families having photos taken. Not necessarily by me, but in whatever form you would like. I think that having images for your children to look at daily, up on your walls of your home, is invaluable when it comes to the whole family feeling part of the whole, and knowing they will always have a place to call home!
Having a photoshoot?
I will always give you the option of whole family photos as part of your photoshoot. Not all families take up the offer, some parents prefer to have the time spent on just the kids, but I will always offer! (I will not be upset if you decide not to get in the photos, it is your photoshoot and your choice, however I will tell you that if you have a few full family shots taken, you don’t need to actually buy them, but you may as well have them done while you are here).
Debbies family photoshoot.
Debbie comes to me for her family photos about once a year. Here are a few of the images we got from this years’ shoot.

Baby J’s Christening photoshoot.
In November I was very pleased to hear from a past customer whose first baby’s Christening I shot a while back. They have had another baby and wanted me to cover his Christening.
The service was at the same gorgeous little Church where their daughter was also Christened.
It really was fabulous to catch up, see how much their first baby has grown, and meet the latest addition.
If you would like any more information or to book a photoshoot do get in touch via the contact form on my website. I can cover most events such as weddings, Christenings and parties in the Bognor Regis, West Sussex area.
Autumn is my favourite time of year. It is all about cuddling up in your warmer clothes when it starts getting colder, and the gorgeous, stunning colours which you will only find at this time of year. I don’t think there is a more colourful time of year than autumn, with a myriad of different colour leaves on the trees and also on the floor.
Every year at around October half term I take the kids to a local park, and take our annual Christmas card photos, along with some which are either Autumn or Halloween theme (think pumpkins and all the shades of leaves imaginable).
Thankfully this half term we had some gorgeous dry weather, not too cold and the colours, ah the lovely colours. It was perfectly timed with some leaves on the trees and others which had already dropped.
Now, I hear you say “What!? Take your own photos?” Yes, as a photographer, I do take photos of my own family, however it is not plain sailing! So I keep the shooting times short, and give rewards for letting me get at least a few photos. It also helps to make some of the photos fun ones. This year I achieved this by letting them have a ride on the train which runs round the park after I had finished with taking photos, and they had super fun throwing leaves around!
Sometimes I sit and edit my photos, or work out new ways of editing so that I am being more creative in the way my images are produced. I will, now and again, think about what customers think happens with their images after the shutter clicks. Some images call for half an hour or more of post processing, to make them the sort of image that you will see on our facebook pages or on our blog posts. Below you will find a small selection of images from a shoot, with each image having an original (straight from camera), one which has had a small amount of editing in one of my favourite editing packages (Adobe Lightroom), the last is the fully edited ready for the wall image. These were all edited by hand, there was no use of presets or actions.
Hopefully you will agree that the finished image is so much better than the original which is straight from the camera. Next time you look at photos on facebook pages, have a closer look and see if you can work out how the photo has been edited to look better than the original!

Susan’s family photoshoot.
In January Susan brought along her lovely family for a studio family photoshoot. The photoshoot was bought for her in the form of a gift voucher for Christmas last year, in this case we also booked in the date and time of the photoshoot at the time of buying the gift voucher, and I was able to print all the information on it for them.
Such a gorgeous family, I think you will agree!

Sandra’s family photoshoot.
In February Sandra brought along her lovely family for a baby photo shoot.
Baby was a little too old for a newborn photoshoot, so we went with an older baby style shoot. This was a one hour session (as we did not need to try and get baby to sleep) however we did use some of the same styles that you would for a newborn.
One hour studio photo shoots cost £65, and come with one complementary 8×12 print (price correct for 2015)

Debbie’s family shoot
Last year I had the pleasure of taking maternity photos of Debbie and her family.
This year they returned for some photos of them with their beautiful new arrival. Both children were stars for this shoot, not a single tear from the baby, and big brother was very happy to sit for his photos as well.
This was a standard one hour family shoot, as baby was older than I would recommend for a newborn session. I hope you enjoy seeing some of the photos.
One hour family photoshoots cost £65 (correct at time of writing 2015) and come with one 8x 12 print of your choice from your online viewing gallery. This type of shoot can also be bought in gift voucher form if you would like to purchase it as a gift for someone.

Lacey’s family shoot.
Here is a little blog post about Lacey’s family photoshoot. This took place at my home studio, situated in Bognor Regis, West Sussex.
Lacey brought along her two children, her own siblings and her parents to the shoot. We started her studio time with photos of the children (It usually helps to start with the children, then when they get bored/tired we move on to the adults and give the littlies a bit of a rest) We then moved on to various combinations of the adults, then added the children back in towards the end when they had had time to rest.
We managed to get a pretty large gallery from this shoot. Here are a few examples from their session.
An hour’s studio photoshoot costs £65, and comes with one complementary 8×12 of your choice from your gallery (price correct for 2015).
If you would like to contact me to talk about a shoot or book, feel free to use the contact page on the website, or you can call on 01243 887747.
